‘Barbie’ Announces It Will Make Dolls From Ocean Plastics

Introducing Barbie’s new environmentally friendly line, Mattel is working towards the goal of having 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials in all products and packaging by 2030.

Mattel, one of the world’s most famous toy companies, announced its “Barbie Loves the Ocean” collection. All three dolls introduced were made entirely from recycled ocean plastics. With this project, plastic waste in the ocean was recycled and attention was drawn to environmental pollution. Alongside the dolls are a beach hut made of 90% recycled plastic and a few beach accessories, and the new Barbies look just like the others.

The plastics were obtained within 50 kilometers of waterways in areas devoid of official waste collection systems. Mattel also launched a new brand campaign to teach sustainability to children: “The Future of Pink is Green”. The brand’s iconic pink color is combined with green, which represents protecting the planet.

“This Barbie launch is another addition to Mattel’s growing portfolio of purpose-built brands that inspire environmental awareness as its primary focus,” said Richard Dickson, Mattel President and Chief Operating Officer. “At Mattel, we enable the next generation to discover the wonders of childhood and reach their full potential. We take this responsibility seriously and continue to do our part to ensure that children too inherit a world full of potential.” used the phrases.

Mattel aims to use 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials in all of its products and packaging by 2030.
