While the establishment of a huge green hydrogen plant that will produce with solar and wind power in the Inner Mongolia location has been approved by China, the facility will produce 66,900 tons of green hydrogen per year with 1.85 gigawatts of solar power and 370 megawatts of wind power capacity.
A significant portion of China’s large hydrogen projects are managed by industry giants such as Sinopec and Ningxia Baofeng Energy.
What is green hydrogen?
Green hydrogen is produced by electrolysis of water and the separation of hydrogen atoms from oxygen atoms. Blue hydrogen is obtained by the decomposition of methane into hydrogen and carbon monoxide at high temperatures. Green hydrogen is known to be more environmentally friendly because it is produced from water, but carbon emissions are very high when renewable energy sources are not used for the electrolysis process.
