Development Investment Bank became the owner of the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate, which was developed by the Netherlands-based The International Renewable Energy
Indicating that the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate is important in terms of the Bank’s efforts in the field of environment and sustainability, Development Investment Bank General Manager İbrahim Öztop said, “This certificate, which was given with the aim of popularizing renewable energy investment and use among businesses and consumers, means that every unit of electricity produced comes from its source. It ensures that they are tracked starting from the beginning and can be traced to the final consumer. As a bank that focuses on renewable energy, we provided all of the energy we consumed in 2020 from solar power plants. By purchasing 950 MWh of green energy in 2020, we prevented the destruction of a total of 21,565 trees and the release of 469 tons of carbon into the nature. In order to leave a more livable world to future generations, we undertake exemplary works in Turkey and contribute to the environment and nature with our sustainability-oriented works. In 2021, we continue to provide all of the electricity we consume from green energy sources. In addition to the financial support we provide for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, we also supply our own energy from green sources and fulfill our responsibilities on the way to the carbon neutral target.”
