Yapı Kredi became the first institution to commit to the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” to the Science Based Target
The emission reduction targets to be determined by Yapı Kredi will be publicly announced after verification by the international initiative, the Science-Based Targets Initiative. Thus, the bank, which will play an important role in the fight against climate change, will contribute to the environment in line with the targets of the Paris Agreement, which limits the increase in global warming to below 2°C, ideally to 1.5°C.
The Science-Based Goals Initiative continues its activities as a joint initiative initiated by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Natural Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
