In the SHURASTAT 22nd report published by SHURA Energy Transformation Center, Renewable Energy Capacity Allocated by Tender and tender prices were evaluated. According to the study, which includes Tender Statistics in the Field of Renewable Energy, the weighted average price of 74 YEKA GES-3 tenders with a total size of 1000 MW held in Turkey in April and May 2021 is approximately 35% below the world average.
It is becoming more and more common that long-term renewable energy guaranteed purchase prices are determined globally through auctions. The European region, which includes China, India and Turkey,
Renewable energy leveled energy costs (LCOE), which has been decreasing rapidly since 2010, also allowed the prices offered in the tenders to decrease. While the leveled cost of energy in PV solar power plants decreased by 82% in the 2010-2019 period, the prices in the tenders were 20% below the costs on average.
– The decrease in prices in auctions in the world in 2020 and 2021 shows that the expectation for improvement in production costs continues.
– The weighted average price of 74 mini YEKA PV solar auctions with a total size of 1000 MW held in Turkey in April and May 2021 is approximately 35% below the world average.
– Mini YEKA auctions show that there is intense investor interest in solar energy in Turkey and prices have become competitive.
– The low prices in mini YEKA auctions may prolong the return on investments and cause the installations to spread over time.
