Focusing on the impact of increasing the presence of women in business life and improving their position on economic and social indicators, the Sustainability Academy launched the Women I Future webinar series to build the future together with women and with equality. The first meeting of the series was held on 08 July with the sponsorship of Hepsiburada. Schneider Electric Turkey, Central Asia and Pakistan Region Human Resources Deputy General Manager Berna Galipoğlu shared her views with the participants in her speech at the event.
The power of diversity and inclusion: 1+1=3
Stating that she is very happy to be a speaker at such an important event that draws attention to diversity and increasing the presence of women in business life, Berna Galipoğlu said, “Research shows that companies that attach importance to diversity are much more successful than others. Companies with an inclusive culture are 2 times more successful in financial goals, 6 times more successful in being creative and agile, and 8 times more successful in realizing their business goals. Research shows that companies that attract and retain people and women with diverse talents, identities and creative minds gain 67% advantage. I call this the power of diversity and inclusion, namely 1+1=3. Equality is necessary not only for a fairer life, but also for a more qualified, more creative and more successful life.
Expressing that as Schneider Electric, they started the first studies on this issue in 2014, Galipoğlu said, “We implement a gender-based equal salary policy throughout our company. We take part in overcoming the obstacles that may be encountered by creating internship, mentorship and employment opportunities for young women. Today, 30% of our management staff around the world and 50% in Turkey are women. We do not see our area of responsibility limited only to the company and the energy sector, but we are working for a transformation throughout society. On our way to becoming one of the most inclusive companies, we set ourselves specific targets for the year 2021-2025. Within the scope of the Schneider Sustainability Index gender balance principles; We aim to become a company where women represent 50% of all new hires, 40% of frontline managers and 30% of senior executives, and with these goals we strengthen our commitment to gender balance. Our work and opinions are not limited to these. We will have the opportunity to convey our work and views on this issue in more detail at the Women I Future event.” said.
