Ulke Industrial Corporate Solutions Director Murat Sengul lists what should be considered when choosing the right work glove for a job.
1- Choose the right material: The first step in finding suitable work gloves is choosing the right material. Depending on the studies, different types of materials may be needed to perform different tasks. If the risks of cuts and punctures are high in the works and if you are in areas such as construction works, landscaping, carpentry, metalworking, puncture and cut resistant gloves will be needed. Impact resistant gloves should be used if working in environments where heavy machinery is used together or where there is a risk of material falling into the hands of employees, while gloves resistant to chemicals involved in the process are required for jobs that require the use of any chemicals. In addition, electrical work or any work involving applied engineering can result in an electric shock. In this case, comfortable gloves containing insulating materials such as leather or rubber should be preferred to reduce the possibility of electric shock. Depending on these factors, rich alternatives can be offered to the users thanks to the raw material types such as polyurethane and nitrile used in the production of gloves, and other variables such as the frequency of knitting of the gloves and the coating on them.
2- Choose the right size: Sizing and fit make a big difference in glove comfort. Since work gloves will be used for a long time during busy working days, it is very important to make sure that the gloves fit comfortably on the hand. There are also some points to consider when it comes to the design of gloves. Among these are the facts that the outer seams are more comfortable but wear out quickly, the inner seams are durable but can irritate the skin, and the seams stretching across the palm will provide more comfort. It should also be noted that unsuitable gloves will cause more than discomfort and can restrict movement during work and cause long-term injuries such as blisters and muscle cramps.
Pointing out that a great work glove can be more than just the material and cut, Murat Şengül states that to make sure the gloves are perfect for the job, whether they have fingerless or half fingers, rubber grip or touch screen pad can make a difference in the work done.
