The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced that it is planned to raise the renewable energy targets for 2030, and new tenders will be held in wind and solar energy.
In its statement on 06 August 2021, the Ministry will increase the solar energy installed power target set by the country for 2030 from 5 to 7 GW, and its wind target will be 5 GW. While the current installed power of Uzbekistan is currently at the level of 12.9 GW, thermal power plants account for 11 GW of this power, and HEPPs for 1.85 GW, while the largest share in energy production is 90%.
In the announcement regarding the tender, a tender will be held for a capacity of 500 MW in the Bukhara, Khorezm and Namangan regions of the country, and 400 MW in the Kashkadarya and Fergana regions, and a 200 MW capacity right will be granted for the wind energy investments in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
